Ashley Lauren King

Ashley King is a Nationally Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), licensed by the state of Texas (LM). At the age of sixteen, she was introduced to the world of home birth and began setting her sights on studying midwifery the moment she was eligible. On September 1st 2010, within months of high school graduation, she found herself invited to observe her very first home birth and has been hooked ever since! That very same year, she began her enrollment into midwifery school while simultaneously pursuing her clinical apprenticeship with Joyful Beginnings Birth Care. After licensure, she came on board with Joyful Beginnings as a staff midwife in 2014. She later served as the President for the San Antonio Area Midwives Association, and was also a board member with the Association of Texas Midwives as the regional representative for the San Antonio areas until 2018. As she completed her terms with both associations, Ashley was able to divert her attention to helping grow Joyful Beginnings’ birth center facility. In addition to being midwife and Administrative Director for the birth center, she is focusing on additional studies in Trauma Informed Care while pursuing credentialing as a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C). This credential gives her the opportunity to further support clients who may be struggling with perinatal/postpartum mood disorders. In her off time Ashley enjoys adventuring with her community, traveling, or cozying up in her favorite coffee shop writing something new.
