How It Works

Home Birth Partners connects families with certified home birth midwives at no cost. Here is how the process works from start to finish.

Step 1: Check Your Candidacy

Not every pregnancy is a good fit for home birth. Our candidacy quiz walks you through the same five questions a midwife uses in a first consultation, from your current week to any complications, prior cesareans, and distance from a hospital. If home birth is likely right for your situation, we proceed. If it is not, we tell you that directly.

Step 2: Tell Us Your Situation

We ask for your due date, location, insurance type, and birth history. The more specific you are, the better we can match you. If you have a prior cesarean and want to explore home VBAC, tell us. If you have Medicaid and need a midwife enrolled in your plan, tell us.

Step 3: We Find Your Match

We review your request, look at certified midwives in your area who serve families with your profile, and identify candidates with availability in your birth window. We prioritize midwives whose credential type (CNM or CPM) aligns with your insurance coverage.

Step 4: We Make the Introduction

We contact the midwife on your behalf and make the introduction by email. You will receive an email within 1 to 2 business days. From there, you take it. Most families schedule a consultation call to ask questions and evaluate fit before signing a contract.

Our matching service is free for families. We only share your contact details with the specific midwife we match you with, not with a list of providers.

Example: "My hospital birth felt rushed and impersonal. I want to be in my own space, with someone who actually knows my name when I walk in the door."
